Biting into a fresh, juicy, hand-picked peach is a dream every Florida gardener can live. Peaches, pears, and plums can all be part of your home orchard. These and other deciduous fruits can be grown successfully in most of Florida.

Use the University of Florida recommended plant lists to help you choose varieties that will work best in your area.

Before you buy trees, inspect them for signs of insects, diseases, and other problems. Only bring home healthy trees, and plant them right away in a sunny location.

Container-grown fruit trees may be planted at any time of the year, but December and January are the best months.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
