Biological pest control is a way to reduce populations of harmful organisms by using their natural enemies.

Beneficial insects that feed on harmful insects can be purchased or encouraged in your landscape. Ladybugs and lacewings help control aphids, whiteflies, and other pests.

Parasitic wasps are common in landscapes; these wasps kill harmful insects or hinder their reproduction. Encourage parasitic wasps by planting nectar plants in your yard.

If you use a pesticide, choose a low toxicity product targeted to your specific pest, and only treat the affected plants. Biological pest control is most effective when used as a component of integrated pest management.
