Description

One of our smallest swallowtails, adults have a low, erratic flight but pause briefly at available flowers and continuously flutter their wings while feeding. Males are black with iridescent blue-green hindwings. Females are a somewhat dull brownish-black. All life stages are distasteful to predators, particularly birds. | Photos by Jaret Daniels
