Description

Found only in southeast Florida, the Atala was almost extirpated from the state. It has since made a solid comeback thanks in part to the ornamental landscape planting of cycads - the butterfly's larval host. Today, most populations of the butterfly are found in more urbanized areas from Miami north to West Palm Beach. | Photos by Jaret Daniels
