Description

This small hairstreak is typically encountered from March to May. Both the 'northern' and 'southern' races of this butterfly are found in the state. The 'southern' race is more showy and limited to peninsular counties. The more drab 'northern' race occurs throughout the panhandle. Found near oak woodlands, the adults regularly wander into nearby open areas or forested yards in search of available nectar. | Photo by Jaret Daniels
