Description

A butterfly of open, disturbed sites such as fields, roadsides and occasionally pinelands, the Variegated Fritillary is often localized and seldom encountered in large numbers. The adults have a low, somewhat erratic flight and are quite difficult to closely approach. Not a regular garden visitor. | Photos by Jaret Daniels
