Description
As its name implies, the Common Buckeye is a frequently encountered butterfly of open pinelands and sunny, disturbed areas. The quick-flying adults elude close approach but regularly alight on small colorful flowers with their wings open to reveal their bold target-shaped eyespots. May be a frequent garden visitor. | Photos by Jaret Daniels
