When to water
- Water your lawn only when it needs it. Footprints will stay in the lawn, leaf blades will fold in half, and the lawn will take on a blue-green hue.
- Water your landscape plants only when they need it. Some plants are prone to wilting when they need water.
- Use a rain gauge to see how much water your plants get naturally.
- Grouping plants with similar water needs will make it easier to give your plants the correct amount of water.
- Water less in cooler months when turfgrass grass is dormant.
- Water in the early morning to prevent water from sitting on the foliage overnight.
- Follow all local watering restrictions as to when you can water.
- Turfgrass and landscape plants are irrigated only as needed according to UF/IFAS recommendations and in compliance with any existing watering restrictions
