Leave grass clippings on the lawn after mowing so they don’t enter the storm drain.
Install a Compost pile or worm bin (if permitted by HOA) or use a community compost bin if available.
Use Landscape waste (tree trimmings, fallen leaves, pine needles) on site (if permitted by HOA) and/or properly compost or placed at curb for horticulture recycling.
Create self-mulching areas under large trees.
Pruning
Avoid the used of hedge trimmers. Use hand pruners to get a healthy more natural appearing plant.
Hedge or screening plants should be pruned to keep the bottom wider than the top.
