Episode #27 | Original Air Date: April 7, 2020
Plants need nutrients to grow, and typically get them from the soil. But we sometimes apply fertilizers to help plants along. Apply the right type of fertilizer at the right time for best results without negatively impacting the environment.
In many cases your turfgrass will need a different fertilizer than your shrubs or palms.
Plants also benefit from the right amount of fertilizer.
Overfertilizing can aggravate pest problems and stimulate excessive growth. It can also cause pollution of our waterways and groundwater, so a slow release fertilizer may be the best choice.
If you choose to fertilize, make sure you follow UF/IFAS guidelines and local ordinances.
