Episode #150 | Original Air Date: September 25, 2020
Having your yard recognized by the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program is a great way to showcase your landscaping efforts.
For the most part, recognition requirements relate to how you maintain your yard. Your landscape should feature a wide variety of plants arranged for efficient watering and weed free mulched gardens. Turf maintenance should follow UF recommendations.
Another important component of an officially recognized landscape is that it can’t include any prohibited plants.
Contact your county Extension office for the complete checklist to guide you in creating your Florida-Friendly yard and to see if your landscape can be officially recognized.
Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
