Episode #24 | Original Air Date: April 2, 2020
Florida-Friendly native plants are often a good choice for the Florida gardener and are well adapted to Florida’s climate and environmental conditions.
Many can also serve as a good source of food for wildlife. Native plants are considered to be those that were here before the European settlers.
Some popular natives in Florida include beautyberry, muhly grass, coontie, red maple and Southern magnolia.
Ask your local nursery what natives they have for the conditions in your landscape.
Remember that natives are more likely to thrive when they’re planted in the right place. Like any plant, they should be installed properly and cared for until they are established. Use them correctly, and your garden should flourish!
