Episode #311 | Original Air Date: May 10, 2021
Azaleas are popular in Florida because of their colorful flowers that bloom from late February to early April.
Properly pruning your azaleas can help them develop into full, well-branched shrubs, as well as improve their blooming.
Always prune your plants in late spring or early summer, shortly after flowering, because azaleas set their flower buds for next year during the summer.
Several light prunings early in the growing season will help your azalea develop the nicest form.
Remove shaded-out branches first, since these often-become dead wood.
Remove old leggy branches gradually over several years to reduce the shock to your plants.
Correctly pruning your azaleas can keep them blooming strong!
