Winter brings many birds to Florida. Some are just stopping by on their way to even warmer climates, while others stay for weeks or even months to escape cold northern weather.
You may notice sandhill cranes which are recognizable by their bright red heads.
The Cedar waxwings’ migration coincides with the time many fruits are ripening. They travel in flocks of up to hundreds.
American robins, with their yellow beaks and orange breasts, are known for their rich song.
As you can probably imagine, birds use a lot of energy flying long distances for days at a time. Backyard bird feeders can really help out our feathered friends.
