Episode #141 | Original Air Date: September 14, 2020
Your home landscape probably needs a lot less water than you think. But many homeowners overwater their landscapes, which not only depletes the water supply but makes plants more prone to disease and pests as well.
Excess irrigation water also drains to surface and ground water, carrying along with it, pesticide residues and algae bloom causing pollutants.
Some Florida-Friendly Landscaping tips for using less water include choosing drought tolerant plants, having a smaller lawn and not watering it until it starts to wilt, using low volume micro irrigation, and, if you have an automatic home irrigation system, making sure it is properly controlled and calibrated.
