    Transcript

What do you do with your grass clippings? Grass clippings are a valuable resource because they contain nutrients that plants need.

When you mow your lawn, just let grass clippings remain on the grass. Be sure to keep them off hard surfaces and out of storm drains.

By leaving them on the lawn, you’ll reduce your fertilizer needs, since the decomposing clippings will add nutrients to your soil. As long as you mow on a regular basis, grass clippings left on the lawn will not contribute to the buildup of thatch.

If you don’t want to leave the grass clippings on the lawn, consider adding them to your compost pile.

So recycle by reusing your grass clippings!

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
