    Transcript

A lawn can be an appealing element in a home landscape and provides important benefits, like reducing stormwater runoff, cleaning the air, providing a place to play and it can help tie together the rest of the landscape. But it's important to use turf wisely and manage it properly.

Most lawngrasses are Florida-Friendly when managed properly.

Make sure you choose a grass suited to your property’s conditions and that matches your expectations. Turfgrasses typically won’t thrive in heavy shade, so consider using groundcovers, shrubs or mulch in those areas.

Use turfgrass where it makes sense and manage it responsibly, and you'll be conserving resources and contributing to a better environment.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
