Frequently Asked Questions about Certification

  • What is a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional?

    The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program offers a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional (FFLCP) designation to individuals who have completed the required training in FFL principles and are familiar with the latest UF/IFAS recommendations.   • How do I become a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional?

    Certification requires a combination of online, classroom and field training -- about 10 hours total. See the FFLCP Requirements page for full details.

  • What is my certification number?

    Your certification number is printed on the certificate and identification card you received in the mail. If you have not received this, please contact ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu.

  • How long is my certification in effect?

    The FFLCP certification is valid for two years. Renewal notices are sent three months prior to your renewal date.

  • How do I renew my FFLCP certification?

    Renewal requires two CEU hours plus payment of the $50 renewal fee. See the full details on the FFLCP Renewal page.

  • Where can I find CEUs?

    See the listing of approved CEU options on the FFLCP Renewal page. Most require a nominal fee.

  • Am I allowed to use the FFLCP logo on business cards and email signatures?

    As a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional you have the credentials to use the logo to promote your expertise in sustainable landscape design and maintenance as long as you follow the FFLCP Code of Ethics and have an active certification. The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program will notify you three months in advance of your certification expiration date. Certification expires two years from your most recent certification or renewal.
