Inspector Qualifications

Who can perform inspections for ERP-permitted stormwater systems?
A qualified inspector must satisfy one of the following criteria:
- Be a registered professional (e.g., Professional Engineer), or
- Operate under the supervision of a registered professional, or
- Have completed relevant training* within the past five years and be able to provide documentation.

What if I do not currently meet one of the criteria?
For individuals who do not meet these criteria, UF/IFAS has developed an online training program, Stormwater Qualified Inspector Training (SQuInT). This program provides the knowledge and credentials necessary to perform inspections and to fulfill the qualified inspector requirements for non-MS4 entities.

What CEUs or PDHs is the training approved for?
AICP - 10.5 credits General CMs
DBPR, Community Association Managers - 10 credits Operation of Physical Property CECs
DBPR, Landscape Architects - 10.5 credits Optional + 1 credit Laws and Rules CECs
FDACS - 2 credits General Standards (Core) + 2 credits Limited Fertilizer (LF)
FFLCP - 10.5 credits
FNGLA - 10.5 general credits
LIAF - 4 credits
PE - 10.5 PDHs

How will my CEUs/PDHs be reported?
AICP: Credits must be self-reported. Keep your certificate as proof of attendance. For more information see: AICP Member Frequently Asked Questions
DBPR (LA, CAM): Please send your license type and number to ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu to request CECs. Allow 10 business days for the credits to be reported to DBPR. Keep your certificate as proof of attendance.
FDACS (Core, LF): Please send your license type and number to ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu to request CEUs. Allow 10 business days for the credits to be reported to FDACS.
FNGLA: Please send your request for CEUs to ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu. You may also self-report your credits. Keep your certificate as proof of attendance. For more information see: Navigating CEU Requirements for FNGLA Professionals
FFLCP: Credits must be self-reported. Keep your certificate as proof of attendance. For more information, see: FFLCP Renewal
LIAF: Please send your license number to ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu to request CEUs. Allow 10 business days for the credits to be reported to LIAF. Keep your certificate as proof of attendance.

What is the quickest way to become SQuInT certified?
Taking the online training and exam is the quickest way to obtain your certification. Once you have passed your exam, a PDF of your certificate can be downloaded from Canvas (see below for printing certificate).

I took the class and passed the test. When will I receive my certificate?
If you passed the online exam, you can download your certificate immediately.
Follow these steps to download your certificate:
- Go to the Canvas Catalog Dashboard.
- Click the Completed tab.
- Click the View link to view the certificate in your web browser.
- Click the Download link to download the certificate.

I lost my certificate. How do I get a new one?
Follow these steps to download a copy of your certificate:
- Go to the Canvas Catalog Dashboard.
- Click the Completed tab.
- Click the View link to view the certificate in your web browser.
- Click the Download link to download the certificate.

I think I may already be certified. How can I tell?
You can search the Directory of Certified Individuals by for your name. If you are not listed and believe you should be, please contact the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ State Office at ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu or call 352-273-4509.

How can I correct or update my listing in the Directory of Certified Individuals?
If your information has changed or there is an error in your listing, please send the corrections in an email with SQUINT Directory in the subject line to ffl-ceu@ifas.ufl.edu. Be sure to include your name as it currently appears in the listing.

I took the SQuInT training and passed the exam in the past. Is my certificate still valid?
SQuInT certifications are good for five years from the date the training was completed (exam passed). If you're not sure when you completed the course, you can check the Directory of Certified Individuals to find out your expiration date. Note that after your certification has expired, your name will not be listed on the page.
