The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program is a science-based program created to teach people how to design and maintain landscapes while protecting Florida’s water and natural resources.

All of your landscape maintenance decisions can have a profound impact on Florida’s environment.

Any landscape can be Florida-Friendly if it is designed and cared for according to the nine Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principles. These are: right plant, right place; water efficiently; fertilize appropriately; mulch; attract wildlife; manage yard pests responsibly; recycle yard waste; reduce stormwater runoff; and protect the waterfront.

This holistic way of looking at your landscape can help preserve Florida’s precious natural resources for future generations.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
