Master Gardeners are specially trained volunteers that help the University of Florida Extension Service.

Their most common role is answering questions about gardening, and Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ through booths at community events or garden centers, or by taking phone calls at the county Extension offices.

Some Master Gardeners Volunteers also work with youth, setting up and maintaining school gardens or leading summer gardening camps.

A number of Master Gardener Volunteer organizations hold annual plant sales that provide support for future projects.

So if you have a passion for gardening, consider becoming a certified Florida Master Gardener Volunteer and filling one of these roles!

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in a Minute is a production of the University of Florida’s Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program, IFAS Extension, and WUFT-FM in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
