Winter is a great season to carry out several gardening tasks.
This is a good time to prune deciduous plants, grasses, and some perennials. Clean garden structures to get them looking new again.
Compost dead plants from your fall vegetable garden. Renovate beds by adding organic matter and tilling the soil to at least six inches. Pull any weeds and refresh mulch around existing plantings.
Rake up leaves, or mow the leaves with a mulching mower and dump the clippings on beds as mulch or add them to your compost pile.
Adjust irrigation to reflect the plants’ lower winter water needs, but wait until spring to fertilize your lawn and landscape if needed.
