Vegetable gardening in Florida is fun, and if you’re up for the summer heat and humidity, then sweet potatoes, southern peas, cherry tomatoes, and okra are too.
Some spring crops like peppers and eggplant may extend into the summer. If the plants are still healthy and producing fruit, there’s no need to remove them just yet.
If you want to give your garden a rest during the summer, use the hot summer sun to solarize the soil, heating it to kill nematodes, weeds, and other harmful pests.
Your summer garden can continue to provide delicious food, or take a needed rest-- either way, summer can be a productive time.
